The Foundations

Most construction projects require foundations.  Some loft conversion and alteration projects may not require foundations. All foundation structures must comply with the requirements of the Building Regulations and passed acceptable by an inspector appointed to administer these regulations.  The structural engineer will look at the soil type and bearing capacity to establish the type of foundations required, ie: deep strip, piling, floating slab, etc.  Excavating and placing foundations in the ground, may also have an impact on the neighbouring properties, and thereby the client  may need to serve legal notices under the Party Wall etc Act 1996.
